My Mom Reflection

I look in the mirror on a daily basis. I brush my teeth and brush my hair in front of my reflection every morning. Depending on how early the morning is, it may be a cranky, sloshy reflection, and there are some rare, magical days when it is a bright, optimistic reflection. Same me, different start. But I do see myself every single morning. There I am.

One day I decided that I want to work on loving that reflection more regularly. Regardless of how I see myself in the mirror. And something that keeps me loving myself is knowing I’m always trying to be better. No matter what, every day is an opportunity to be better. To strive keeps me going strong and proud.

I strive to be the best mom I can possibly be, and recently I came up with something that has helped me start my day feeling great. I created a mission statement of all the things I want to be as a mother. I found a great list online and I adjusted it to fit my own priorities and goals. I printed out my mission and taped it to my mirror that I look into every morning. My mission statement goals were carefully thought out and prayed over. It isn’t a list of things others want me to do. It’s not things my kids want, or my husband wants, or things the world wants of me. It’s a mission statement for ME. The things I listed are the things that will make me love myself. I don’t look at it and criticize myself for not having mastered those goals. I may work on just one of the goals for that particular day. And I may merely reminisce and feel victorious that I accomplished one of them the day prior. I take one day at a time and review my mission once a morning. I vowed to myself I wouldn’t let it intimidate me, and it would serve as an inspiration and guide.

I made the mission statement from my heart, so I trust it. I trust that I am capable of more than I know. And I keep in mind that my mission is not a checklist. It is a reminder of what I strive to awaken in my soul. I LOVE my list and it empowers me to achieve my potential.

HERE is a copy of my Mom Mission Statement. Download it, and change it to be tailored to YOUR soul. Tape it to your mirror and let it be a reflection of you.

XO, Jen
